About Build Mode

Build is the mode for players who know the League of Legends shop by heart. Each day, a completed item is presented only through its build tree: you see the structure — how many components, stacked in how many tiers — but with every piece covered, like an assembly diagram missing the names.

The goal is to deduce the final item from the shape of the tree and the few pieces that surface. Each wrong guess uncovers one component, always from the most neutral to the most telling: the basic items first, like Long Sword or Amplifying Tome, then the intermediates that already hint at a build category.

Your guesses give off signal too. A guess that shares at least one component with the day's item lights up in amber — the same 🟦🟨⬛ alphabet as the share grid — meaning you're hunting inside the right family of items (attack damage, ability power, tank, and so on).

If the whole tree is revealed and doubt remains, two trump cards come in: the total gold price and the official shop description, with the item's passive and active effects. The challenge is the same for the entire player base and is swapped for a new item at every day rollover.

Frequently asked questions

Can any item be drawn?

Only final items purchasable on Summoner's Rift that have a complete build recipe. Starter items, quest items and items without components don't enter this mode's draw.

What's the logic behind the reveal order?

Basic to intermediate, cheapest to priciest. Generic components, the ones that serve many items, appear first; the pieces that practically give the item away are saved for last.

What is an amber guess telling me?

That the item you guessed uses at least one component in common with the secret item — at any depth of the tree. It's the cue to look for items on the same build line.
